Cars the sequel!

My precious nephew, Dylan, turned two and is now a Lightening McQueen fanatic! His first birthday we did a "Cars" cake for him not knowing that a year later he'd really be into it. I liked the first one so much it was hard to part from the design, but I came up with a bigger boy version and he LOVED it! Good thing because I love him!

Mom to Mom Cupcakes

Sweet treats for sweet ladies! I did these at the last minute for my Mom to Mom group dinner. I just can't help myself I guess! These are white cupcakes with butter cream icing and homemade fondant brown and pink decorations. My favorite is the pregnant belly cupcake! That was fun to sculpt.

Purple Bridal Shower Cupcakes

The design for these cupcakes were inspired by the invitation to the bridal shower which was white with purple swirling vines. I found out the bride used daisies on her wedding invitation and her married inital and also incorporated them into these whimsical cupcakes. These had an adult flavor of amaretto cake topped with butter cream and homemade marshmallow fondant. These were fun to make and to eat from what I'm told!

Citra Natal Cakes

My best friend is a pharmaceutical sales representative for the company that sells the CitraNatal prenatal vitamins. While I was home recently she wanted me to make two cakes for some of the OBGYN offices that she visits. These cakes are inspired by the vibrant colored gerber daisies on the marketing materials for the vitamins. The cakes were neapolitan with buttercream icing and homemade fondant decoration. I'm happy to report that these cakes generated the office buzz she was hoping for!

Twice As Much Fun!

When two brothers celebrate their birthdays together... it's twice the cake and twice the fun! Four-year-old Stone wanted a Curious George cake and younger brother Holden wanted something with race cars for his second birthday. Since the parties were combined, we decided on two, four layer 8 inch cakes, both decorated with yellow buttercream and red and blue homemade fondant decorations. Curious George would be chocolate cake and the race car would be white cake. Curious George was lots of fun to create. The race car became a combination of Holden's dad's favorite nascar driver Kasey Kahne and Lightening McQueen... but with Holden's name and age. The boys LOVED their cakes and took the fondant characters home to enjoy later!

A Camouflage Wish Cake and Cupcake Tower

Nine year old Ben loves playing Army and wanted a camouflage cake for his birthday party. The 6 inch wish cake is wrapped in camouflage fondant with silver fondant painted dog tags with Ben's name and age on them. The cake and cupcakes are all yellow cake with buttercream frosting... Ben's favorite! The tank and candles are the only things not edible or made by hand. This cake was a fun challenge! Happy Birthday Ben!

Cupcake Tower Debut!

A wonderful family friend wanted "the cutest cupcakes ever!", so we designed Alysse's pink and lime green ribbons, petals and pearls cake and cupcake tower around her 2nd birthday invitation. We went with a 6 inch amaretto cake with bavarian cream filling for her to make a wish on and for the parents to eat, and just over 2 dozen white and strawberry cupcakes. This cake was made with homemade fondant that was pearlized for a little girl who LOVES her pearls! I loved making this ultra girlie cake for a very precious two-year-old!

Three Cakes in Two Weeks!

I feel like I've been back in the work place after completing three gourmet cakes in just two weeks! Of course, my husband is the reason behind them all! He and his brother's birthday were cakes one and two. The cake I did for a baby shower at his hospital made three! I tried several new techniques and batters on these cakes. Among them I flavored my homemade fondant with chocolate and wrote on fondant for the first time. The design my brother-in-law requested actually threw a long time cake decorator at a local cakery for a loop! In the end the cakes were delicious and adorable... so much fun!
